Find out more about Barry New and his passion for cars and motorbikes.
I have been involved in the automotive industry for over 25 years. I have a great deal of experience with car care/cleaning, running mechanical workshops (Shelly BMW Wellington). I have sales and finance experience covering cars, and also motorcycles from my time with Sawyer Motorcycles Wellington.
I am a very keen car enthusiast and really enjoy every aspect of cars.
As an example of my experience I have been responsible for some time now for looking after, cleaning, organising servicing and arranging sale and purchase of a private collection of 12 cars and motorcycles, including Aston Martin, Rolls Royce, BMW, Mercedes, Range Rover, MV Agusta, Triumph and Suzuki Motorcycles.
I have been racing motorcycles competitively for about 30 years, building, modifying and maintaining my own race bikes. I have also been running a Motorcycle Race Team since 2003. Currently I am restoring a 1980 model Suzuki GSX1100 back to its former glory.
I am a life member of Victoria motorcycle club.

Barry’s top tips for vehicle storage
Always connect a tool called a "battery optimiser" to your battery when storing your vehicle for more than 3 weeks. This trickles a charge into your battery, and at the same time discharges the battery to keep it in the same condition as if you were using the vehicle. We can supply you with the right optimiser for your battery.
