“My vision in starting up Barry’s garage was to respond to a need I could see for discreet and secure storage solutions for modern and classic cars and motorcycles in Wellington, New Zealand, for my customers who come from around the world”, says Barry.
“It gives me great pleasure to provide services that enable my customers to get the most satisfaction from their passion for cars and bikes”.
Barry is also the distributor for the Wellington area for the prestigious Autoglym range of vehicle care products.
Here is some information about how Barry’s Garage got started and our philosophy.
Barry’s Garage started business in 2011 with the idea of meeting a need for a specialised vehicle storage service provided by an expert who knows and loves cars and bikes as much as their owners do.
“Special vehicles need special storage facilities and vehicle specific treatment” says Barry New, “plus they need to be prepared for use when their owners want to hit the road so WOFs, servicing and even things like the right tyre pressure all help to make that next drive or ride the enjoyable experience that you wish for”.
“I am used to driving, looking after and storing premium vehicles as well as “everyday cars and bikes”.
There really are no alternatives in Wellington apart from doing it yourself as “rent a storage unit’ providers do not store vehicles for insurance reasons, only furniture and belongings which doesn’t meet all of everyone’s needs.

I am a very keen car enthusiast and really enjoy every aspect of cars.
As an example of my experience I have been responsible for some time now for looking after, cleaning, organising servicing and arranging sale and purchase of a private collection of 12 cars and motorcycles, including Aston Martin, Rolls Royce, BMW, Mercedes, Range Rover, MV Agusta, Triumph and Suzuki Motorcycles.
I have been racing motorcycles competitively for about 30 years, building, modifying and maintaining my own race bikes. I have also been running a Motorcycle Race Team since 2003. Currently I am restoring a 1980 model Suzuki GSX1100 back to its former glory.
I am a life member of Victoria motorcycle club.
